Preschool

Preschool classes support 3- and 4-year-old children develop the skills they need for kindergarten and beyond. Anoka-Hennepin offers high-quality, inclusive preschool experiences taught by licensed early childhood educators — right in your neighborhood.

Preschool is coordinated by Anoka-Hennepin Community Education. Classes are held September to May at locations throughout the Anoka-Hennepin School District. There are morning and afternoon preschool options for children who are age 3 or 4 by September 1 of the school year. Locations are available at various elementary schools and early learning sites across the district.

Early childhood screening

Early Childhood Screening is required for all children attending Anoka-Hennepin Schools preschool. This allows families to see how their child is growing and developing, and provides resources and support if a family has concerns. Screening connects families with early education programs and resouces, by allowing trained professionals to check:

  • Vision and hearing, height and weight
  • Immunizations
  • Large and small muscles
  • Thinking, language and communication skills
  • Social and emotional development

Early Childhood Screening is FREE of charge to all children ages 3-5.
